CV gaps
CV gaps for Sales Executive
Sales CVs lose readers when they describe activity without numbers. The gap to close first is a clear comparison of target against result, with deal size, sales cycle and the market you sold into.
The 4 gaps to check
Target versus result missing
Why it matters: Saying you "exceeded targets" without figures is easy to dismiss.
How to close it honestly: Give the target and what you achieved as numbers or a percentage you can support, with the period.
Deal size and cycle unclear
Why it matters: A reader needs to know whether you closed small quick sales or large long ones.
How to close it honestly: State typical deal value, how long a sale took and who you sold to.
Where leads came from
Why it matters: Outbound, inbound and account growth are different skills.
How to close it honestly: Say how much of your pipeline you built yourself and how.
Sector and product vague
Why it matters: "Sold software" could mean anything.
How to close it honestly: Name the type of product, the customers and the region or sector.
Questions that find your real evidence
- What was your target last year and where did you finish?
- What was your largest deal and how did you win it?
- How did you find most of your prospects?
Only add what is true. If you cannot back a line up with a real example, leave it out.
