CV gaps
CV gaps for Marketing Manager
Marketing manager CVs usually list channels and tools but not results, budgets or audience size. The gap a reader notices first is the missing link between what you ran and what it achieved.
The 4 gaps to check
Channels without results
Why it matters: "Managed social, email and events" tells a reader what you touched, not what worked.
How to close it honestly: For each main channel add one true result, such as list growth, leads, cost per lead, sign-ups or revenue influenced, with the time period.
No budget or audience size
Why it matters: Without scale, a reader cannot tell a small test from a large programme.
How to close it honestly: Give the budget you controlled and the audience or customer base you worked with, if you can share it.
Strategy and execution blurred
Why it matters: Managers are expected to set direction as well as deliver it.
How to close it honestly: Separate what you planned and decided from what you personally produced, and say how many people you managed or briefed.
Tools listed with no outcome
Why it matters: A list of platforms is easy to copy and hard to trust.
How to close it honestly: Mention a tool inside a result, such as "Cut reporting time by building dashboards in Looker Studio", only where it is true.
Questions that find your real evidence
- Which campaign are you proudest of, and what happened because of it?
- What did you stop doing because the numbers showed it was not working?
- Whose work did you direct?
Only add what is true. If you cannot back a line up with a real example, leave it out.
